Default I started a petition to limit Congress to two terms

I started a petition at Whitehouse.gov to limit Congress to two terms. Two terms for the Senate, two terms for the House. No more career politicians.

Which would have to be voted on by those that you want to limit. Ain't gonna ever happen.

While I'm certainly in favor of some sort of term limits I think we need to look more closely at what those terms even are. The house currently only has a 2 year term, I find that to be problematic, especially under your suggestion(limiting that person to 4 years total). If you're too restrictive, you end up with an endless cycle of people that don't know what the hell they're doing. Even though the pay is right, could you imagine working somewhere where you knew you were only going to be there for 4 years?

Regardless of the length of each specific term (house is 2, senate 4, etc etc), seems reasonable to me that holding public office in a certain capacity should be capped at 8 years. That number seems to work for POTUS. so you get 4 terms in the House, or 2 terms in the Senate. (and other elected positions). Like streaker said, ain't never gonna happen, but it's a nice thought.

Senate is 6 yr term, but I agree with what you're saying.

Government exists to only serve itself...Power and money corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Term limits are a great idea, that sadly have a snowballs chance in hell of happening without a complete redo of the entire system from the ground up.

Right. Supposed to be citizen legislators, so six terms for House members and two for Senate. Again, better odds of hitting one of the current lottery mega jackpots as these asshats will never vote to limit themselves.
