Re: Pottstown banning discharge
Nothing wrong or illegal about that.
The borough where I work has that in their ordinance. No discharge of a weapon unless its in self defense.
Discharging a weapon for hunting purposes is not affected.

Yeah well Pottstown has been in the shitter for years. Look at their BRIGHT idea to transform High street into a 2 lane road with diagonal parking! With brains like that in the local government, we have nothing to fear!

Re: Pottstown banning discharge
There's an argument that it is illegal to not allow one to practice use of a gun as barring an individual from practically owning a handgun, but that's a whole nother ball of wax
I'm not fighting it on grounds that it would be an illegal law
I'm just going to protest it because I don't see how it's going to do anyone any good!
If I go out and shoot my gun in the air I'm going to jail and there isn't a discharge law in limerick..
If you're interested in letting the counsel know that we don't want this type of law on the books show up!
I don't need them to close every target range in PA as a response to not being able to get anti-gun laws passed so I'm going to the meeting to fight it.
In NY every gun range in Rochester and surrounding areas are now closed because of Monroe counties' discharge law. Do you want to see that?

Re: Pottstown banning discharge
There is no legal standing that allows the person to be able to discharge a weapon.
Your "right to keep & bear arms" is covered, as well all know. But there is no "right to discharge" said firearm.
I have no idea why the ranges in NY were closed, they should have been exempt.

Re: Pottstown banning discharge
They weren't exempt, it was a way to run nearly every single gun shop out of Monroe county. It was how the anti-gun stranglehold started in upstate NY..
That's why I don't like it...
I agree that there is no legal standing to discharge a weapon EXCEPT in defense of oneself or the state.
However by denying a person the ability to discharge a weapon they are effectively refusing to allow one to be able to obtain the skill with a firearm to effectively defend themselves with a firearm..
it would be a legal argument that i think holds water but I doubt anyone would have the funds nor the will power to fight it out...
