    Matamoras constable recovering after accidentally shooting hand

    MATAMORAS, Pa. — The constable for the Borough of Matamoras, Pa., was injured in a firearms accident Friday morning, according to the Eastern Pike Regional Police.
    Richard Odendahl, 30, was cleaning his firearm at his home when his weapon accidentally discharged and he shot himself in the hand, police say. Odendahl was taken to Bon Secours Community Hospital. His injuries were not life threatening.
    The extent of the damage to Odendahl’s hand has not been determined.

    How can you clean a gun when a cartrige is plugging up the chamber?

    I hate this kind of shit because many non-gunners look at this and say "well this guy was a trained professional and he seriously injured himself with a gun, imagine what non-military and law enforcement would do to themselves on 'accident' with a gun in there hands!" It just spurs the "OMG GUNS ARE SOOOOO DANGEROUS!!!" movement.
