My 8, and 10 year olds shot my 12 gauge for the 1s time...
yesterday, and loved it.....
I was so surprised when we went up to the clay range to do some informal skeet shooting. I take them along to help with the skeet thrower, and they like to collect unbroken skeets, etc. My oldest at one point says "Dad can I shoot? "What am I going to say, No?" I thought he'd be a bit young and have problems with the recoil, but it didn't phase him. he shot the gun four times and actually vaporized a bird. Man was I surprised. Of course then my little guy had to try it. He needed help holding the gun, but shot three times and clipped a bird just as it hit the ground. Againm, shock. I think these guys have the real makings of some shooters/ hunters and I can't be a prouder dad!

Start them young and start them right. Now you need to get a 20 ga. so they can shoot with you. Do not get them a single shot. They are to light and kick to much.
Good.

WTG dad! I was 10 when I started shooting shotguns. By the time your oldest is 12, he will kick your butt shooting targets. Young eyes and fast reflexes.
Good job getting them started early. We have some great young shooters at our club.I love the smell of gunpowder in the morning.[
