    Default NRA - McCain interview

American Rifleman came in the mail today, inside was an interview with John McCain.

    Quicky Rundown:
D.C. vs. Heller case - D.C. laws are unconstitutional and should be overturned.
U.N. gun bans - We should continue to say "no" to U.N. gun bans. "International treaties and agreements must conform to our Constitution, not the other way around."
Gun shows - He supports restrictions on person-to-person transfers except between father and son and husband and wife, and in my opinion danced around the question.
McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform - ". . . not a desire to restrict the ability of gun owners or any other group of citizens from making their voices heard in the legislative process." Did not apologize for gagging the NRA and other groups to my satisfaction.
"Assault Weapons" ban - It reached the sunset without renewal because it was ineffective. He didn't say anything about magazine bans.
Waiting periods, ammo bans, registration/licensing - "They only affect law-abiding citizens. And they have another common theme: They don't work as crime-fighting tools."

I'm really not sure what to think. The McCain-Feingold law still bugs me, and it bothers me that he wants to involve FFLs in personal transfers. Still don't know whether I should be voting independent or McCain.
Removed NRA Life Member pic. LaPierre and Chris Cox are ruining NRA.

Bro, please understand, I mean absolutely no disrespect. I don't know you, but I do believe this...

Ron Paul, while he may be 2A friendly, doesn't stand a snowball's chance.

Barak Bin Osama (yeah, I know, childish name calling) is a bad choice. Nowhere near enough experience. He'll revert to his early training, and his Minister will be replaced by his Imam. No, I do not trust a wolf in sheep's clothing. If he gets the nomination, lots of Jews I know (I am Jewish, BTW) will be really torn. Vote for a Republican or a Muslim?

Hillary- less experience than Osama, plus will promise you the moon but fail to deliver. She'll press her agenda wherever she can, which (I believe) will include pressing to further whittle our 2A rights down.

Like him or not, Mc Cain is the best bet out there (IM not so HO).

I'm no political genius. Hell, I voted for Ross Perot and threw that vote away. A vote for an independant will just take a vote from Mc Cain. To me, the choice is clear.

Sorry if anyone takes this as an attack, but I'm truly worried about the direction in which this country is headed.

I'm worried about our direction as well. I will vote for McCain, but I will not be happy in doing so. I'm really disappointed that I have no better option than McCain.

If you voted your conscience and gave your vote to the person you felt best able to do the job, then it wasn't a wasted vote, it was democracy practiced as it was intended to be.

You will agree with McCain on 80% or so of the issues, vs. you will disagree with the other two on 80% (or more, depending on how conservative you are).

McCain is definitely the lesser of the evils.

While that may be true, it actually cost G.H.W. Bush the election, IMO. Of all the people I knew who voted for Perot, most were Republicans looking to improve the economy by electing a businessman rather than a career politician.

I don't want any of the 3, but I agree with you 100%.
    I vote the second first
