Certified WASR rifles
Just to put this out there. WASRs aren't bad rifles if you want something to plink with and they do have the cool military look- however with some places it can be hit or miss with quality (trigger, cants, wood finish, etc). All valid concerns.
I saw Hendersondefense offers hand-picked WASRs with finished wood.

This looks interesting- again, just to put some more options out there.

Re: Certified WASR rifles
I'm glad you brought this up, I don't think anyone has ever mentioned anything about WASRs, let alone AKs, here. Good job!

Re: Certified WASR rifles
WASR10 are the cheapest AK you can buy and are known for poor finishes and canted sites. they are built to only accept 10 rd mags but century opens up the magwell so they can accept standard 30 rd mags. while they are not pretty with their rough finish and plain wood they do work and go bang when you pull the trigger. back before nobama was elected you could pick one up for about 350 +/-.

Re: Certified WASR rifles
If your handy with a Dremel, and you watch the 922 parts count, go for the low-cap to save the bux.
But I would suggest you have a few different types of hi-cap mags available - and test fit each as you go. Some steel mags fit better than others, while poly or bakelights fit differently as well.
You want to grind-out to the happy medium for all, for fit and function.
That way you can readily buy extra mags in the future with a reasonable sense that they will fit and function.
Also - go slow and easy, you don't want to over-grind.
Edit:
Before dropping a dime on a new WASR, check the classifieds; folks seem to be dumping AKs these days.Last edited by nfafan; August 7th, 2009 at 11:23 PM.
