I'd also pass on the ruger, get yourself a LMT, BCM or Colt if your going to spend that much, these guns have proved themselves to be among the best.

SR-556 is a great rifle but only problem is there is no warranty if it breaks, all Ruger Firearms dont come with a warranty so if it was me i would get the SIG 556 it cost a little more but its worth it in the long run. If you like it buy it you can always sell it later or trade it for a better AR15, the SR556 holds a pretty decent resale value.

i owned 2 Ruger firearms so far they never gave me any problems and are under rated firearms.

well i read on the back of my Ruger owners manuals (from both guns i owned) it says there is no warranty card , Ruger has elected not to provide any written warranty under the Magnuson-Moss Act(Public Law 93-637) well i dont know about their customer service i never had problems with either of my new Rugers, i know that if you need repairs they charge you for the repairs made. Thats why they test fire the guns before they are shipped i got a fired bullet casing that came with my SR9, i think thats for each state that has different restrictions for pistols and revolvers .

I am not sure what this means about why they didnt have a warranty with my guns . but it said on the back of my owners manuals no written warranty. i will call and find out if my pistol breaks they fix it for free or not.

I think the Ruget SR-556 is great as long as you buy a Sig 556. If you want the real deal gas piston type rifle in the same caliber the Sig is the way to go. The Ruger is untested and is (as previous posters linked to) having problems with bolt carrier tilt. The Sig 556 is based on the SG 550 which has been around for 20 plus years and shares many elements of the Kalashnikov, while being extremely accurate.

Shop around and you can find a Sig 556 for about the same price as the Ruger. If you dig Ruger, stay with their revolvers.
