Default Is this a good guide for 1911 field strip?

    http://how-i-did-it.org/detail-1911/field_strip.html

I saw this online and thought that this was a pretty good step by step guide. I have only put a little less than 100 rounds through my new 1911 but I plan on putting another 100 through it this weekend or middle of next week. After the first 100, I cleaned and lubricated what I could without stripping it. Another question, after how many rounds should I strip and clean, the 1911 that is?
    gracias

The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.

Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

I clean my firearms after every use.

I do this at home after I'm all finished shooting. I dont clean at the range no matter how many rounds I put through.

I put 350 rounds through my .45 last Sat, and then about 120 through my .308

I clean them at home as well. I enjoy an adult beverage on the couch while doing so. My girlfriend just shakes her head and says I look like a psycho or a scumbag mostly due to the fact that I probably have a stained wife beater on and drinking a Pabst or Miller High Life.

I would not take apart the frame or the firing pin. Unless you plan on upgrading parts or replace broken parts. As far as cleaning take apart the slide and barrel as the barrel bushing and clean like every other handgun.

Pretty good though I would not break down the frame until I fired around 2,000 rounds. A good flush with some spray type cleaner will do until that time. Also it is very important to remove the firing pin and clean after each session as carbon can build up quickly and prevent it from functioning properly.

I only intend to take it down to the field strip level for basic cleaning. I have only cleaned my revolver up to this point so I am just trying to get as much info as possible before taking apart my semi-auto for the first time.
    thanks for the help.

I came across this page today (before I read your post) and I thought it was pretty damn good. One thing the author left out is to be very careful while fidgeting with the slide stop (if you value your finish).
