Default Why Do I Carry A Gun?

”Why Do I Carry a Gun?"

My old grandpa said to me son,' there comes a time in every man's life When he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and usually it's When he becomes too old to take a whoopin'...

I don't carry a gun to kill people.
I carry a gun to keep from being killed.

I don't carry a gun to scare people.
I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.

    I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid.
I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.

    I don't carry a gun because I'm evil.
I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I hate the government.
I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.

    I don't carry a gun because I'm angry.
I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.

I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone.
I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and Not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.

I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man.
I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the
    Ones they love.

    I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate.
I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am Inadequate.

    I don't carry a gun because I love it.
I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful To me.

Police Protection is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves.
Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the Crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to Take an whoopin'

Does this include the 160 officers killed in the line of duty in 2010?

You have no duty to protect me, You do feel the need to help people and I do respect that but self defense is just that, something that ones self must take care of.

How does your question relate to the part you quoted ?

FBI/DOJ Stats tell us when accounting for ALL LEO positions in the US, Fed, State, Local , admin AND patrol, there is roughly ONE LEO for every 1700 Citizens. The same studies also show the average response time to a 911 call is FOUR minutes, while the average interaction time between a perp and his victim is NINETY SECONDS.

Any honest cop will admit the truth of exactly what the quote you used. The vast majority of the time the police show up AFTER the crime has been committed and the perp has fled.

Recognizing and acknowledging the fact that the police cannot possibly be everywhere at once, that Citizens are ultimately the ones primarily responsible for their personal safety and that of their community and that multiple Courts, including the Supreme Court have ruled numerous times that the Police have NO legal duty or obligation to protect individual citizens and cannot be held liable for their failure to do so has nothing to do with diminishing the sacrifice of those officers that die in the line of duty, which is what it sounds like your eluding to in your post

He never used the word 'allude' in his post, he used 'relate', so the question remains, how does your question relate to the parts you quoted?

I was curious about your post as well, but someone else asked you about it before I got here.

No...he used the word elude...anyhow...once again...I can't keep doing this...I only anger myself and that's not why I'm here...I'm actually here to enjoy talking with other gun folks and not defending my life's work.

    Hey, it's nothing personal.
We're just doing what we're told you know?
    We're just doing our duty.
We're just trying to keep everyone safe,
and we don't know you from a can of paint.

We just want to get home safe at the end of the day.

Yeah, like that. Doesn't feel so good when it's used on you, does it?

That's just what it's like when a law-abiding citizen gets treated like a criminal by a thug wearing a badge, for no legal reason.
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

If these stastics are true, 382 people died from police "misconduct" between April 2009 and June 2010. http://www.termlifeinsurance.org/pol...y-information/
