legal carry of tasers in pa.?

someone asked me this question today and i didn't have a answer. if i had to guess i would say it falls in the prohibited weapons category. any ideas from those of you that may know?

Pretty sure they're illegal in Philly, along with knives. Can't comment on PA.

This is a common question around here. I'll sum it up quick as possible. I'll start off by saying that I'm not sure about Phillthedelphia...but would it be any surprise? hehe

As far as the rest of PA goes, its an ambiguous law. One part of the statute says they are illegal, then the next part says they are legal if used for legal purposes. The way that vast majority of government and law enforcement, along with the TASER legal team, look at it as they are legal and its left go. However, note for the record that we did get word one time that someone was charged with having an electronic defense device. Absolutely no specifics on it though.
