    Default carry while driving?

Hello everyone. I am new here. I recently got a job at a check cashing store in a bad area of Philadelphia. I had never fired a gun in my life and knew nothing about them. I just bought a Sig P250 full size .45 and got my carry permit from my local sheriff. I took an hour safety and basics coarse at a local gun shop.

I was reading the READ FIRST: Where you CAN and CANNOT Carry weapons in the State of Pennsylvania thread and was surprised to see this.

"Before you ask, NO loaded long guns can be carried or transported in a vehicle - whether you are licensed or not."

Can anyone please clarify for me? Am I reading this wrong?

Long gun = shotgun, rifle, or anything of that sort.

You can carry your pistol loaded with your LTCF just fine.

According to Section 6102 of the UFA:
"Firearm." Any pistol or revolver with a barrel length less than 15 inches, any shotgun with a barrel length less than 18 inches or any rifle with a barrel length less than 16 inches, or any pistol, revolver, rifle or shotgun with an overall length of less than 26 inches. The barrel length of a firearm shall be determined by measuring from the muzzle of the barrel to the face of the closed action, bolt or cylinder, whichever is applicable.
Anything under that definition is considered a firearm when it comes to licensure. That is, this list is what you can carry loaded, on or about your person, with a LTCF. If your NFA item falls into these definitions, then you should be covered.

By the way, IANAL, so I could be wrong.

Everybody pretty much covered it. No loaded long guns, ever. You're fine with the Sig and your LTCF though.

Hey thanks for the replies I had probably looking at a computer screen too long because words "loaded" and "long" over lapped in my reading of that.

I know their still considered a firearm, but is an SBR considered a long gun?

If it isn't can I have a loaded one in the passenger compartment?
