Default Body Armor While Driving / Open Wear

Is it legal to wear a body armor plate carrier in public kind of like open carrying, and also is it legal to drive around with it on? Does anyone here ever do this?

I'm tempted to try wearing my plate carrier before leaving for the range rather than putting it once I get there.

It is legal to wear yes. If you commit a crime well wearing body armor it increases the penalties.

You gotta love the wording. If you don't commit a crime it's legal, but if you do it's illegal. That's what I thought so far. I'm just double checking.

Also depends on the crime. Has to be available or used during commission of a felony.

I took AR500 into the state capitol building in a back pack, cause you know, if you can't have a firearm in a gun free zone the next best thing is armor. The capitol police didn't even bat an eye when it went through the metal detector. It's legal to carry and wear, as already said, but if you are using it to commit a crime then they will give you extra lashing with the ole wet noodle.
