Opinions on XD9
So I was browsing the selection at a local gun shop when I came across a used XD9 and decided to check it out. Since there aren't a whole lot of lefty pistols out there to my liking or in my price range, I figured Ambi is obviously the way to go. Anyway, I checked out this used Springfield (very clean, VERY little wear), handled it (Quite comfortable) and really liked it.
My questions would be............Is $400 reasonable for a used XD and what are some of your opinions on it as a carry gun and overall? I've really not read anything bad about it in periodicals, but would like some real-life testimony.
Sorry if this has been beaten to death in other threads, but for something like this I like to get the most up-to-date impressions.
Thanks in advance,
S.

Re: Opinions on XD9
I have an XD9sc and it's been fantastic to me, I've found that I kind of want a bigger one (bigger grip) so I've kind of resorted to trying to trade my sc for a service.
Great guns, dont have anything bad to say about them.

Re: Opinions on XD9
I love my XD9. It is the 4" Service model. It is not the smallest gun in the world, but i do carry it comfortably. I am a lefty and think the ergonomics are perfect. Accuracy is very good and I have never had any malfunctions.
A couple of years ago, I bought an XD SC in .40 for $400. So, I think that is a fair price for one in good condition.

When and where? I see you're in Delco......With time (and fuel mileage) being a precious commodity, over-paying for convenience may be justifiable. However, I will continue to look for a "better deal" locally, IF there is one to be had.
But yeah, I'm thinking an XD may be my choice.Last edited by sxHarr05; November 13th, 2008 at 01:55 AM.

I have a XD9 and love it. Makes a good Carry gun as well. I think $400 is a great price right now.... just saw new ones for almost $600.
Go for it, you'll be happy with it, buy lots of ammo and shoot it up. I like Hornaday 147g XTP/JHP for defenseHonesta Mors Turpi Vita Potior ~ 3%

Re: Opinions on XD9
I had XD9 bitone not too long ago, and it was fantastic weapon.
It was dependable, and VERY accurate. With great trigger feel to boot.
My M&P(which is what I dicded to stick with) is great, but trigger leaves something to be desired.
I ended up trading it for something else, because I never liked grip safety on XD, and grip thickness was more then I liked.
But it was an EXCELLENT firearm.

Re: Opinions on XD9
Thanks for the input, guys. Greatly appreciated. I'm gonna do it, provided it's still there Friday. Out of curiosity, what is the going rate for the background check? It's been awhile since I purchased (First gen Sigma, when brand new).
Also forgot to mention the 5% discount for NRA members. Woohoo

Re: Opinions on XD9
If you want something for a lefty, I'd highly recommend the M&P or HK P2k series over the XD.
