what benefits do you receive if you join a club?
Been thinking about calling Blue ridge sports assc. In Adams county.. What all benefits are available if you join? I would like a closer place to shoot. With longer ranges. But ,If all I was paying for was to shoot i could go to the free range..Can anyone tell me?????

Depends on the club, I'd guess......
Some have indoor ranges, organized shoots, longer ranges...hopefully someone here is a member of the aforementioned club and can help you better

A few general things I think you gain by joining any range are the following.
1. Generally a safer place to shoot. I've seen many many unsafe things done at the free state game lands ranges. I have never seen anything unsafe at a private range.
2. Generally it's less crowded. I can go to my range most days and not see another soul. The weekends are different though. But my work schedule allows me to shoot during most peoples work hours.
3. For the range I belong to.... I can use the indoor pistol range any time I want except for prescheduled events. I can go there at 2am and shoot if I want.
4. People... They people have more respect for the range itself because they are the ones paying for it's upkeep. Granted you still get some jagoffs who shoot things they're not supposed to, but it's not nearly as bad as at the public ranges. Atleast in my experience.Μολὼν λάβε

The club I belong to has family dinners, cookouts, gun bash.

You will have the privilege of going to the meetings, to help make decisions and have some say about how things are done, to help with maintenance and upkeep of the club, to get to know more people and make new friends, etc......
Most clubs have plenty of room for more member participation. There is always a need for more involvement and always empty seats at the meetings, just ask any officer of any club. Everyone wants to take advantage of the shooting ranges and attend the events, but very few are available to help run the organization and keep it functional.
