New York's proposed list of such places includes: government buildings, medical facilities, places of worship, libraries, playgrounds, parks, zoos, schools, summer camps, addiction-support centers, homeless shelters, nursing homes, public transit including the New York City subway, places where alcohol or marijuana is consumed, museums, theaters, stadiums, polling places and New York City's Times Square. In other words just about everywhere.
    • Private businesses will be presumed to be gun-free zones unless their owners say otherwise. So private businesses will have to display a sign allowing firearms not the other way around.
    • The bill would require applicants for concealed-carry permits to submit their current and former social media accounts from the last three years to review by the licensing officer, usually a judge or police official, to weigh the applicant's "character and conduct."
    • Applicants must complete at least 15 hours of in-person firearms safety training, and at least two hours of training at a firing range, where they must prove their shooting proficiency according to standards to be developed by state police.
    • Applicants must meet for an in-person interview with the licensing officer and provide the names and contact information of their spouse or domestic partner, any other adults they live with and say whether children are in their home. They must provide four character references.
    • The permit holder will be subjected to monthly background checks and social media monitoring.

It’s a felony to violate any of the above which will be very easy to do. Also this law pertains to the whole state not just NYC.

Will NYS also implement a fee for voting? That would be as reasonable as their CC scheme.

Good grief, the place you would need one the most like the subway or Times Square and they won't let you carry. I heard some NYS politician on the radio and she said: "The Empire Strikes Back! New York will be safer with these restrictions in place". Oh really, like NY is a safe place now and letting people who go through all the hoops not carry in those places will somehow change things? These people are on some serious drugs.

Come on man! The SCOTUS decision changes EVERYTHING! Everyone in these blue states will get permits, and the states will even grant non-resident permits to all applicants! Silver bullet!

That's mostly what I'm reading here.

But seriously, I agree with you 100% and pretty much made the same call. And there are PLENTY of liberal judges who will issue stays to keep those 'laws' in place while the cases drag on for years and years.

Bruen decision is like the dam explosion in Force 10 From Navarone. When the explosion went off, Carl Weathers started yelling about all of this for nothing!?! Edward Fox told Carl Weathers to be patient then slowly the damn started slowly cracking until it failed and collapsed. Clarence Thomas put very specific wording in the majority opinion. It*s going to take some time for the lower courts to properly apply the decision. Hell, SCOTUS just vacated some lower court decisions regarding AWB and mag capacities.

You are likely correct, but it will be in place long enough to do plenty of permanent damage before the Courts get around to dealing with it.

Virtually all of them. It applies to the whole State. I hope some counties pass their own nullification ordinances and County Sheriffs announce refusal to enforce. But on the whole, NY is now a Communist State. I expect NJ to quickly follow this lead.

Efforts to do this in PA are probably in the works. Wolf may try to do it by Executive Order.

Here is an article from the American Thinker that discusses other aspect of the law besides the place restrictions. Monthly audit requirements for permit compliance. Three year limit on permits. Approval and registration of ammunition purchases. Special permits for any semi-automatic weapon purchases including .22s.

If you are going hunting or participating in shooting sports in NY, please know the law. Transporting long guns for such purposes just became more difficult. The "sensitive location" felony provisions apply to rifles and shotguns.

    2. No person shall store or otherwise leave a rifle, shotgun, or
12 firearm out of his or her immediate possession or control inside a vehi-
13 cle without first removing the ammunition from and securely locking such
14 rifle, shotgun, or firearm in an appropriate safe storage depository out
15 of sight from outside of the vehicle.
16 3. For purposes of this section "safe storage depository" shall mean a
17 safe or other secure container which, when locked, is incapable of being
18 opened without the key, keypad, combination or other unlocking mechanism
19 and is capable of preventing an unauthorized person from obtaining
20 access to and possession of the weapon contained therein and shall be
21 fire, impact, and tamper resistant. Nothing in this section shall be
22 deemed to affect, impair or supersede any special or local act relating
23 to the safe storage of rifles, shotguns or firearms which impose addi-
24 tional requirements on the owner or custodian of such weapons. For the
25 purposes of subdivision two of this section, a glove compartment or
26 glove box shall not be considered an appropriate safe storage deposito-
    27 ry.

And that's how they stop anyone from legally carrying, since they've made it illegal to carry anywhere besides businesses that are posted as being CCW friendly they've made basically impossible to go about normal business with a defensive pistol.

Funny how our side wins the court case yet their side gets what they want.
