Default Upper Nazareth: Police car shot multiple times

Apparently someone out there doesn't like decoy police very much...

    UPPER NAZARETH TWP., Pa. -
Police said they're thankful an officer wasn't sitting in a parked patrol car when someone opened fire, blasting the car with at least 20 bullets.

The shooting happened late Wednesday night on Mayfair Place, off Route 248, in Upper Nazareth Twp., Northampton Co.

A township patrol car, with a mannequin police officer sitting inside, was parked along the road as a deterrent for speeding and running stop signs when a man, armed with a .45 caliber handgun, approached the vehicle and opened fire, police said.

The patrol car is now missing most of its windows, the tires are all flat and there are holes in the hood and grill, said the police chief, adding that he's thankful a real officer wasn't in the car at the time.

Witnesses told police they saw a white man with thinning hair and a husky build walking away from the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.

I heard this as it was going on listening to the scanner. I thought it was a joke too when they said about a "dummy" cop car. Then i read the story and it was a decoy cop car lol.... someone really didnt like that decoy cop very much!!

What is this 'clip' you speak of? I didn't know 1911's had a Broomhandle Mauser variant.

Whoever shot at it has shit for accuracy. From the story, those rounds went every-fucking-where.

If they catch the guy they'll probably charge him with attempted murder of a police officer.

I like how the police chief was thankful that a real officer wasn't in the car at the time. It sounds to me, the way the car was shot up, that the perp was well aware that it was just a decoy car with a mannequin in it.

I'm actually curious in the breakdown of 20 rounds from a .45.

I'm .45 ignorant, but don't the majority have fairly limited magazine capacity? Like 7 or 8?

That would infer that there was at least one magazine change.

Depends on the .45. I had a subcompact that was 10+1 capacity. I'm sure a mag change was made at some point. Maybe two.
