A good encounter.
I had to get blood work done today and since I needed groceries I looked in the phone book for a lab close to Wegmans. I strapped on my 27 and went to Health Network on S Cedar Crest. I've been to a couple of their other locations but never to that one. I checked the building entrance for a no gun sign, didn't see any so I went in checked the directory and proceeded to their office. I signed in and took a seat. There was a woman sitting there with her nose in a magazine so she didn't notice the gun. A man comes out they call the woman in. She comes out and about a fifty something woman calls me in and she tells me to go down the hall and follows me. She tells me to turn right and through a door. I was OC on the right but i guess she didn't notice. I sit down and she asks which arm. I told her usually the left is better so she looks at it and says,"this is your best arm, let me see the other one"! As is normal for me, she can't find a vein. She asks if I ever had blood taken out of my hand to which I replied,"yes". So she moves the tourniquet to my wrist and starts slapping the back of my hand and a vein pops up. She says, "no screaming" and inserts the needle. I smiled, she got the blood and said, "your done". As I stand up to leave she's staring at my gun and says, "is that a real gun? I replied, "it wouldn't be of much use if it wasn't". She then tells me she has a gun and a LTC and how she used to carry it in her car and in her purse but she was always worried that someone would see it and think she was a bad person. I told her that if you really need a gun and don't have one your day is probably going to turn bad very quickly. She nodded in agreement and said she just lacks the confidence to carry it. I gave her a flier, pointed out this web site and told her maybe she can gain some confidence.
Hopefully she finds this place and gets some encouragement.
The rest of the trip to Wegmans and the liquor store were uneventful. The older I get, the better I used to be.

Good story. There are probably a lot of people out there like her, from all walks of life, that just need a little encouragement, confidence and some training.
Nice job!
