Default What are your thoughts on side saddles?

The reason why I ask is because I have one for my Border Patrol. I've recently started using the Vickers 2 point sling system. (The best sling since sliced bread!)

I've noticed that when I sling my weapon to the front, it goes off on a cant. That aids it in getting snagged on anything and everything. I'm really not liking it right now.

Are there ways to avoid this? Perhaps another sling type?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and considerations.

I prefer side saddles over nylon "slip on the stock" shell holders as the saddle is more stable, the ammunition is closer to the the loading port, it won't interfere with my stock weld, and it will last much longer than the nylon.

Due to the limited capacity of shotguns, a method of carrying extra ammunition is a must, pending on usage there are a methods of carrying extra shells.

1: Shot shell slings: You all ready have a great sling, I doubt you'll change it.
2: Shot shell belt: I NEED MY SHOTGUN NOW, hold on while I get my belt....
3: The nylon holder on the stock: See above
4: "Dump Pouch" full of shells, good while pheasant hunting, skeet shooting etc., but almost equally silly as the shot shell belt for general defense.

However, I will admit that I do have the shot shell belt/bandoleer, but as a supplement to the side saddle on my 870, further more, I do have a nylon shell holder on the stock of my Benelli Nova, as there is (or wasn't one at the time) a side saddle for it, and it's an "always with the gun" source of extra ammunition.

I also want to get either one of THESE or THIS for use w/ a regular belt.

**Edited to add, I'm happy, I just did another Google search and Tac-Star does make a side saddle for the Nova now.

Thanks for your response! I was watching the Army marksmanship team in a video not too long agao. They were carrying a belt style rig that looked like a box mag for shotgun shells. As soon as I find the video I'll post it. I think the max it could carry though was only 4 rounds.

I have a sidesaddle on my big 590, works well for it. If you don't like the side, try one of the speedfeed stocks that hold 4 rounds internally, a bit slower to load from but 4 extra is better than none.
