Taurus 24/7 question (newbie alert)
The local gun shop has a used Taurus 24/7 .45 for $300. Is that a good price?

I looked it over and it seemed to be in good working order. I really liked how it felt in my hand. I've got small hands and I felt like I was able to have a good grip on it. I felt a few others like the Ruger P345, Beretta, etc... but the Taurus fit my hand.
I am new to the world of pistols. I just bought my first a few weeks ago. It is a Ruger MKIII 22/45. I enjoy shooting it alot, but now I have an urge to shoot something with more umph. You know what I mean.
So if any of you own the Taurus can you give me your opinions and thoughts? I would appreciate it.

Re: Taurus 24/7 question (newbie alert)
I am a PROUD Taurus 24/7 Pro owner. I own the .40 S&W though, not the .45.
One of the selling points when I purchased my Taurus, last July, was the grips. It didn't feel bulky like the glocks, had a high cap magazine, and just felt right. That and the lifetime warranty was another very good selling point.
It is up to you, but to me it sounds like a good price. If it is not too beat up, then heck yeah. New they sell for around $450+ here.

Re: Taurus 24/7 question (newbie alert)
Thanks for your input. You say it has a lifetime warranty. So if I ever have a problem with it that is caused by general use, they will fix it? Have you ever had any issues with yours?
Do you know if the warranty carries over even if it's used?
I probably ought to just get my ass over to the Taurus website and look around....

Re: Taurus 24/7 question (newbie alert)
According to the Taurus website, and my owner's manual, as long as it is from general use, if it fails it is covered. If you modify the gun, any modifications are not covered.
Also, according to Taurus, and I have read on some other forums that people have had issues, sent it to Taurus, and it was fixed. One was a used gun.

Re: Taurus 24/7 question (newbie alert)
I've got a 24/7 Pro in 9mm. I like it. The problem with the 24/7 line is that there isn't alot of accessories available for it. The gun itself is nice though. But it doesn't seem anyone is catering to it. What's the deal with that!?

The 24/7 Pro is worth it. The regular 24/7 has a much heavier trigger pull.

Re: Taurus 24/7 question (newbie alert)
I agree.
The limited amount of accessories does make it difficult to customize.
But overall, I do like my 24/7 Pro. The SA/DAO is a nice feature, plus it has a lot of the safety features found in some of the more "popular" pistols that are so widely pushed on here. I have shot glocks, and other pistols, and aside from the name, I have not found a whole lot of differences. Besides, I like the grips.

Re: Taurus 24/7 question (newbie alert)
Question:: Can the Taurus be "decocked"? In the future I may want to carry it. If I have a round chambered can the gun be decocked so that the first shot is DA? I hope that made sense.

Re: Taurus 24/7 question (newbie alert)
Well, I went back to the gun shop and got my questions answered. The Taurus 24/7 does not have a decocker.
I did get to shoot 2 clips through it though. I found myself anticipating the recoil more than I thought I would. All my shots hit paper, but most were low. It was an adrenaline rush to shoot though. I think I may be picking up a new one on Friday.

We will happily welcome you into the folds of the Taurus owners, that is as long as you don't go and become a primadona glockite.
