Please ponder your Freedom this weekend
Many of you claim to be God Fearing men. the Bible says 'No Greater love has a man than to lay down his life for his friend'. For those who don't believe, look at those words, forget the source, and ponder the point. Now I ask each and every one of you to answer for yourself TRUTHFULLY. If this is the greatest love, what do you call laying down your life for people you don't even know? How about even if some/ many of those people despise you, disparage you and lay down barriers or you on a regular basis?
This is the life of the American Military member, Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard. They hear "we support the troops", but congress cuts funding, the Coward in Chief, sorry, Commander looks on them with contempt, and doesn't want to be around them, even some members here call them 'puppets'. However, every day may be their last, in order to ensure our freedoms, at the same time many political elite are trying to bargain those freedoms away. Even in a State side "safe" assignment, you face training accidents, and hostile terrorists wanting to cause an event.
On the Friday before Memorial Day, think about what I said. Sure there are some who are in service for the wrong reasons, but the Warriors are there not for recognition, not for wealth (heck we can't even take 'souvenirs' off enemy combatant dead like in the past, much less pillage a village). We send our Warriors to foreign lands, not in conquest, we don't keep territory paid for in blood, otherwise it wouldn't be the EU, it would be the 'Eastern States' At one time or another, our boots have been on the ground in every corner of the world, fighting AND DIEING, and every time the land is returned to the people, who over time resent us. What kind of Person does this every day, looses friends, sees 'Brothers' in pieces, but carries on? Think about it, think about the 60 year old who did his time in South East Asia once, CAME BACK after his wife died to do it again, and paid the highest of prices. This is the kind of Man who serves YOU Defends YOU (Agree with them or no, YOU by proxy of the Government sent them to harms way), We went, many of us came home, many did not.
Remember our Brothers and sisters who paid the ultimate price, remember the opening words of this post, and ask "Do *I* have that love in me for them?"

Usually when Glenn Beck does one of these monologues with music behind it and gets all preachy/dramatic I roll my eyes. The one he did today about Memorial Day though was another story. I absolutely loved it. If you can find it on youtube watch it.

Re: Please ponder your Freedom this weekend
We don't need a holiday to remind us, it's part of Grace at every meal in our home. We'll break bread with two of them on Memorial day (Vietnam and Gulf I) and think of the others that can no longer join us in the flesh.
Thanks for a great post shadow, I think I hear that music now...

And I'm sure troops today are the same theres a special bond with men who have been under fire. And my BRO's laid down there life for people who hated them for fighting in Nam. Would I do it again YES IN A HEART BEAT I still believe in this country and my boys RIP your duty is done and you did it well

Absolutely phenomenal post, rep sent and more than well deserved. Thank you for your service and remember the media only shows the haters, they never show those of us that would slap the spit out of the mouths of those who would spit on you.
Please help my Baby Kitties and I avoid being homeless.

We lost one of our officers 3 days ago (she is actually on the main page of CNN) in a roadside IED. She is in our sister group next door, didnt have a chance to meet her, but saw her around.

If you want to see hows the soldiers are handle watch the movie Taken Chance you'll under stand brotherhood a little better. Listen to the words and I do this every day now. This song is from the civil war

The words
By James Austin (V. A. ?) Butterfield
1. I wandered today to the hill, Maggie,
To watch the scene below;
The creek and the creaking old mill, Maggie,
As we used to, long ago.
The green grove is gone from the hill, Maggie,
Where first the daisies sprung;
The creaking old mill is still, Maggie,
Since you and I were young.
Chorus:
And now we are aged and gray, Maggie,
And the trials of life nearly done;
Let us sing of the days that are gone, Maggie,
When you and I were young.
2. A city so silent and lone, Maggie,
Where the young and the gay and the best;
In polished white mansion of stone, Maggie,
Have each found a place of rest,
(He's talking about mausoleums here)
Is built where the birds used to play, Maggie,
And join in the songs that were sung;
For we sang as gay as they, Maggie,
When you and I were young.
Chorus:
3. They say that I am feeble with age, Maggie,
My steps are less spritely than then;
My face is a well written page, Maggie
And time all alone was the pen.
They say we are aged and gray, Maggie,
As spray by the white breakers flung;
But to me you're as fair as you were, Maggie,
When you and I were young!
Chorus:

I don't know what to say, without getting to emotional. I have two young relatives over in harms way on this holiday week end. They are two tough brave young men. Thay are both on their 3rd tours.
Billy and Tom, stay safe and God bless both of you.I love the smell of gunpowder in the morning.[
