Hi Point firearms , the Sarah Palin of the gun world
I really enjoy reading threads about Hi Point firearms. I think this one brand of firearm has the same affect on guns snobs as Sarah Palin has on liberals. It drives them absolutely crazy. Comments like "I would rather have a sharp stick to protect myself or my family than a Hi Point firearm" (which I have seem many times posted in Hi point threads) is beyond me. Or another common comment is I'd rather have no gun at all than own a Hi Point.
It also seems to be the most bashed firearm from NON OWNERS on the market. They blow up, they melt, slides fly off at a hundred miles an hour, are so inaccurate that they almost shoot sideways. Some of the stories that non owners of this firearm come up with are bizarro to say the least. Makes for good entertainment though.
Just wondering if your brand of firearm can take this; (pretty funny)

Re: Hi Point firearms , the Sarah Palin of the gun world
My friend has a hipoint .380 and it's a blast to shoot. He brings it to the range every once and awhile. Accurate, reliable, and cheap (less than $200 new). Heavy slide, which could be used to beat someone to death after you run out of ammo... So heavy the thing barely has any kick to it and with flat nosed winchester ammo it runs so slow you can feel the slide rock back and forth.
He's owned it for four years and has never cleaned the firearm as it's a "pain" to punch out a pin to remove the slide and clean it from the breach side.
I've long considered buying one."If guns cause crime then all of mine are defective." -Ted Nugent

Wow. I am amazed. I am certainly guilty of having opinions about the Hi-Point without actually ever firing one. I can't believe it took that type of abuse.

OMG! It didn't cost $1,000 so it's junk! haha
Those are some funny vids and I think they made their point. I wouldn't want to see any of that done to my ARs. In fact, I'm not so sure my AKs would withstand all that."The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of 'liberalism,' they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened."

Firearms are like women. When you get older, you realize that you should have been looking for the lower maintenance model that had more reliable functionality. There are some (guns / women) that look incredible and there are some (guns / women) that just really work well. You can look for both features but it will cost you and is it really worth it in the long run?
Go for functionality and if the looks bother you, just get behind it when you need to use it.

Re: Hi Point firearms , the Sarah Palin of the gun world
why does someone have to be a gun snob because they think hi-point guns are cheap??? the truth is while hi-point guns may go bang when you pull the trigger they are not of the same quality as S&W, Beretta, Glock, HK, Sig, or Ruger guns to name a few. i wouldn't buy one simply because they are ugly as hell and for two hundred bucks i'd rather buy a combloc milsurp gun which is of much better quality than the hi-point. with that said hi-points are better than nothing and priced low enough that most everyone that wants one can afford to buy one.
