Default If there were no more guns.

Ok, here's an easy question. If there was a magic button that could disarm the WORLD. Would you push it? This is every gun there is period. No exceptions for anything. It also wipes out the production means, and the knowledge on making them form human existence.

Because then I'd have this collection of "pointy sticks".

I'd have a little pointy stick to carry concealed.........

A long pointy stick for mid range.......

A pointy stick I could throw for long range.......

A pink pointy stick for the fiance'..........

That get rid of bombs too?

    My answer...

    Nope.

Only an armed populace can give others the privilege of governing. This country just wouldn't exist.

    No I would not.

Would you take away the AH-64? Would you take away the F-22 (which is a pretty impressive aircraft by the way.)? The M1 Abrams? How about the car?

We would go back to Bows and Arrows, but I have seen some pretty damned impressive Bows, but they bounce off armor. (I know, bullets do too.) Then about the time that everyone forgot about what guns were, someone would start experimenting, and lo and behold....we have guns again.

To be able to completely rid the world of guns permanently, you would have to change world history. (they didn't use rocks at lexington. Didn't use sticks at Normandy.)

As has been said (and proven) time and time again...ie: U.K. and Japan...banning guns does not work. Even ridding the world 100% of guns...every solitary one...there will still be crime and war. What did man do before guns? Swords, bows and arrow, spear, knife, rocks, and on and on.

If all manufactured weapons of all kinds and their knowledge ceased to exist, assuming we remained as technologically advanced in all other ways, the resulting weapons would likely be "scarier" then modern weapons.
Necessity is the mother of invention and unless that necessity is also removed weapons, murder, and war will remain an unfortunate part of our civilization.

Watch a program on chimpanzees. They brutalize and kill with their bare hands because it's their best tool available. The only difference is mankind has the rational ability to avoid confrontation. Until the genetic, social, economic, and countless other causes of violence are eliminated I will hold onto my guns, thank you very much.

    Nah, wouldn't do any good.

I've learned that nearly any object can be used as a weapon.

My neighbor dropped a crazy woman with a 5lb. bag of flour to the face in Giant Eagle once. (grocery store)

Sorry, this is off topic, but it's so freakin' funny I had to find where I had posted it and add it here...

Much better hearing it in person but here it goes...

My neighbor was in the Penn Hills Giant Eagle when he hears this man and woman (a couple, I believe) yelling at each other in one of the aisles. He ignored them and went around the bend into the next aisle. The woman started yelling louder and he heard the man start screaming. My friend hears a call for the manager on the overhead speaker and at the same time is wondering why his eyes are burning...
OK he's at the end of an aisle, he sees this woman round the bend at the other end of the aisle walking in his direction. The manager comes running from behind him down the aisle toward this woman who is still walking toward him and when the manager reaches her, she blasts him with pepper spray, the manager falls to the floor SCREAMING and the woman continues up the aisle in my friends direction without even stopping after spraying the manager! She's like the terminator! My buddy thinks "What the F*CK?" "this woman is NUTS!" There's two guys lying on the floor screaming, people are shouting to clear the store, his eyes are burning and he's starting to cough from the stuff in the air (asthma too boot!) and this crazy woman is headed right for him!
He says, "I just reached for the closest thing and THREW it at her!" (In telling the story, he motions like he's throwing a football) "That 5lb. bag of flour hit her SQUARE IN THE FACE and exploded in a cloud of white dust!" "She dropped like a rock!!!" he said. "Good thing I wasn't in the canned good aisle, I'da' KILLED her with a can of peas!"

LMAO!!! I think of that story every time I see a bag of flour!
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!
