    Default RRA or COLT SBR?

I'm looking to buy my first SBR and was hoping to get some opinions here before I buy. (guessing this is correct section to post this question)

A few months ago I ordered a RRA 10.5" SBR from a dealer for just under $900 but that could be on "backorder" for a LONG time to come. I found another dealer with the RRA in stock for a couple hundred dollars more than the first dealer. Here is a link to the RRA in stock.

The other option is a Colt 6933 for $1500 from Clydes Armory.

Is the Colt worth the extra $300+? I've been reading some good reviews about the fit/finish of the RRA. Has anybody been able to compare the two side-by-side? I've owned a couple Bushamsters before but never had a chance to compare any of those to either a Colt or a RRA. Am I missing something that makes one a better choice over the other, regardless of price? I have no problem spending a little more if it's worth it, but not just to buy a name. The carry handle would likely be removed from the Colt and the gas block changed to a low profile type. Basically it would like the RRA in the link above. Eventually I would like to add a suppressor, but that may be months/years from now....just in case that matters.

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

a colt is a colt is a colt. I will hold it's value during resale where as the RRA may not. THe 6933 is a wonderful little gun that I have been looking to purchase.

Have you thought about the build your own route?

Thanks for the reply. The biggest reason for buying a factory SBR would be no personal info engraved on the gun.

I totally hear that. Personally, I would go with the colt as it will be closer to the TDP and while I don't ever plan on having to resell any of my NFA items it would defiantly have a better retail value based on what I have seen over the last 2 years.

1 .If you go with the COLT you can always find someone to buy a factory Colt firearm.

    2. In the world of SBRs and $200 tax, I would say again the factory Colt is a easy sale, compared to most anything else.

    3. I doubt Colt is going to make a ton of them.

We have transferred 3 of the 6933s.....

I would say it is worth it.

The advantage with a Colt as opposed to many other AR rifles, is that a Colt is one of the closest to a mil-spec M4 a civilian could purchase.

Colt makes every rifle to the same specs, whether it is going to the military, LE or civilian market... Minus the select fire feature.. They are generally at the top of the value list.. It would definitely be a valuable and desirable rifle..

I would go with the Colt.

    Colt -3/3
    RRA -0/3
I'm thinking that there is a clear winner here.

Now I am trying to figure out how to get 2 of the 6933's so that I can play with one and keep the other one new. Because reality has to have it's evil way, 2 won't be happening anytime soon. I'm leaning towards the Colt to keep in the safe and a factory SBR lower from CMMG to play with in the future, or maybe even the complete RRA SBR if it's not on backorder for too much longer.

    Thanks for the replies.

you get what you pay for . i rather get the RRA and 300 worth of ammo then the Colt. i dont plan on sellin mine i want to switch uppers with mine in the future and BC groups. look at LWRC they make Ar's better then a Colt and have better resale value , like i said you get what you pay for.

There are manufacturers that build a better AR than Colt, but you will pay.

I would rather have an LWRC or LMT over a Colt.
    But I have all three...

I personally like the gas piston systems better, but they are $$$.

Is it worth it....no. On the other hand, at least you'll have it. I have been waiting on a RRA since Jan. 26th. A bird in the hand.....
