Mossberg Model 500 Persuader
I just inherited my dads shotgun , its a few years old but it's practically new in the box . Mossberg is one of the shotty platforms I am not too familiar with . It's got a 20" cylinder bore barrel and 8 shot mag.
Any pro's / cons ? I'm familiar with my 870 platforms and my Benelli / Beretta platforms just never used / shot a Mossberg before ...Fortuna audaces iuvat

Squeeze trigger, wait for flash.
Parental Supervision strongly suggested,
please use safely.
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

You just have to get used to the top mounted safety. Same operation otherwise. Cylinder bore choke was designed to use 00 Buck shot at close range, a riot gun.

Yep, cleaned it up yesterday ( dad kept it in the box under his bed ) it was quite dusty . After a good cleaning I've got it loaded up with #4 buck and a few slugs , it's new home is next to my 870 in the cabinet next to the bed . I like having the 8 rounds , my 870 HD only has five .

Re: Mossberg Model 500 Persuader
And the 500 has a screw-in ejector, which can be easily replaced - unlike the 870. While highly unlikely that a person would need to replace it, it is less work that dealing with a welded-in or riveted(depending on era of production) ejector on a 870.
The 500 also has (2) extractors versus the 870's (1).
A 500 will out-survive an owner. Probably out-survive multiple generations of owners.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515, SteveWag
