    Default Unloading and reloading?

I know I saw it before but can't find it. I remember seeing someone say that clearing the chamber when for example: you hand someone the gun ect.. Putting the unspent bullet back in the mag and rechambering it after you have the gun back, is that bad in any way? I keep the same Federal JHP's in the mag for HD and SD all the time but I have done it quite a few times to the same ammunition and I was wondering again, is there any adverse side effects that can result from doing so? Thanks!

After repeatedly loading and unloading my Makarov like this, I noticed that the bullet had been pushed down into the case a bit. My friend checked his 1911 and it was the same way.

The round still fired, but seating the bullet deeper would result in higher chamber pressures.

Almost any gun other than a revolver (uses the bullet up a ramp of some sort) has the possibility of setting the bullet back. A firm crimp can help, but after repeated chambering any bullet will start to set back.

Bullet set back from repeated loading has caused gun blow ups in the 40 S&W caliber and should be avoided in all calibers.

If your job requires to unload each day rotate your ammo.

If you are a private citizen consider just putting the gun back in the safe in a loaded condition at the end of the day. Just strap on the holster the next day without any beating up of cartridges or racking of a slide. Less gun handling lowers the chance of an AD in the house.
