i got shot today

well let me start by saying that we had a group of us skeet shooting today, had a blast excuse the pun, but we also brought other guns to play with, sight in etcetera... well i was shooting my pals marlin 30/30 at some spinner targets we had set up at about 40 yards, and on my forth shot felt a pinch in my forearm, took a look and saw a gouge in my are about a half in deep. i got hit with a rickochet!!! thank god it didn't hit anyone else, but i was shocked that it came back almost right back to where it left the barrel( i held up the gun after and where my forearm is placed it is only 6 inches from the barrel from where i got hit. it was only a flesh wound and didn't hurt all that bad, but everyone was amazed, no one has ever seen that before. i chalked it up to me, if i didnt have bad luck i'd have no luck at all, but i'm wondering if anyone else has had a simiular experience?

Ohh geeze, friend. I'm glad your better than worse. Are you sure it was a ricochet? Did you find the mangled slug? Sometimes, debris from a poor target location can cause this.

I was shooting pistols with my brothers for hours one day. We must have put 2000 rounds of various types downrange in a day. Well, the target which was "safe" to start, ended up eroding into a hillside with a large flat rock running about a 12' length.

yeah i'm sure it was a ricochet, we found the led about 2 feet behind me, kept it as a reminder that you can never be to safe.

I took some richocheted pellets in the legs one time while shooting up an old riding lawnmower and air conditioner. It just barely broke the skin, and I was shocked to have had that happen.

Yes, I had a similar thing happen. I was shooting at paper with a .38 spc at about 10 yards and hit a rock behind the target. A sliver of of hot lead came back and hit me in the chin and bounced down my shirt. It didn't even occur to me what happened until what I thought was an insect bite was getting more painful, so I looked down my shirt and saw a blister on my chest and looked in a mirro and saw a dot of blood on my chin. Never being one to miss a golden opportunity, I showed my kids and told them this is why we wear eye protection and no loose collared shirts when shooting.
