    Default Transfer from California laws?

Found a cheap Howa .204 on a forum from a dude in another state. California exactly.

He needs to ship it to my FFL, correct? I have that part down.

Does anybody know if he has to ship it from an FFL OUT of California?

Stupid kids at the gun store don't know for sure. And i don't want dude to ship illegally and have problems.

    Thx-

All that is legally required is that the long gun be transferred through a FFL. Since he is in CA, it'd be convenient for him to ship it to a FFL near you rather than you travel out of state to a FFL elsewhere.

No PA or federal law requires a gun to be shipped from a FFL. But some receiving FFL require it. And it is often cheaper to ship FFL-to-FFL.

Thanks Knight- will call regular FFL on Monday. I didn't want dude to get cold feet because i didn't have any ideas what the rules are.

California scares me. Mostly because it's still connected to the contiguous 47 other states.

    Thanks!

When shipping to California an ffl is required to log into Cali Dept Of Justice -you have to have an account - they issue you an approval number and authorization letter prior to shipping anything to Cali. I honestly don't know what requirements they have when it ships from California to you. Bet they have some though. Brian / EFR

You know... the pot calling the kettle black.

In your case you don't know something and they didn't know something and you ended up calling them stupid because they didn't know. :/
