FTF long gun sale to Ohio resident?
So I'm having a tough time getting definite answers but it appears, via my research, that I can transport a rifle across state line for a Ftf sale at an Ohio ffl?
Does anyone know of any laws preventing this? I'm more curious as to whether or not there may be a law regarding the actual transportation of the gun?
I believe that if I keep the gun unloaded, in a seperate container from any ammunition, and not readily accessible to the passenger compartment... that I should be legal to drive over to Ohio to make the Ftf sale at an FFL.
Anyone know any differently... thanks in advanceWhen unholstering your sidearm it is customary to say: "Excuse me while i whip this out"

As long as you are transferring the gun at/via an FFL, and you transport it as you describe, it's perfectly legal. This has some color.
If you have a PA LTCF, it offers some additional protection on transport.

Re: FTF long gun sale to Ohio resident?
Since the sale is crossing state lines, the transfer has to take place at a FFL. By law, it can be an FFL in OH or he could come to PA and do it at a FFL in PA. The deciding factor is that the seller and buyer are not from the same state so federal laws take precedence. If the seller is transporting it to OH, which is legal, make sure the buyer has a FFL lined up that will accept a gun from a Non-FFL. There are FFL's out there that will only accept guns from FFLs.

Re: FTF long gun sale to Ohio resident?
I live in PA a frequently travel to OH. If your transfering the rifle in a case (might not even need to be in a case but is always a good idea) and unloaded you are whiten the law of both states. Having a PA LTCF will provide you more protection say if you had to stop for whatever reason on your way to OH.
All interstate transfers must happen at a FFL, long-guns can be from either the seller or buyer, hand-guns must be in the buyers state.
I would double check with the FFL if they will accept someone from out of state just for due diligence, but the idea that a FFL may not take an out of state firearm is mostly connected with shipping a firearm not a FTF transfer.
Now all of this advice is simply from a firearms enthusiast and not an attorney. It's value is exactly what you paid for it. NOTHING!"No, it's just a machine. I'm the weapon." - Jack Harper in Oblivion
