Upgrades
You shoot enough rats for five dollars a day, after a couple of years you want to upgrade. My first upgrade was the Remington Model 12. When you get used to pulling casings out of a single shot, a pump was the cats ass, or should I say the rats ass. After that it was from top to bottom: JC Higgins (made for Sears) Model 105 16 w/ 4x Weaver, Marlin Model 60 w/4x Marlin, Marlin Model 57 w/4x Marlin. I had purchased these by the time I was 14 (1971). The Model 57 Marlin was the ultimate for me. It cycles everything from a .22 short to a long rifle. For a lever action that's not bad. Back then a brick of .22's could be had for 1.95. Perfect for a 14 year olds' wallet.
