inherited handguns
I have a co worked who has several inherited handguns from his Father and he'd like to sell some of them, but he's worried that they have never been "on the books". How does this work when they transfer ownership of such guns? I know there's no registry per se, but if there is no owner of record, does it show up on background checks or is he the owner of record simply because of possesion? Or, does it even matter?

Re: inherited handguns
Basically, don't worry about it.
There is no "registration" in PA. There are plenty of guns in PA that aren't in the "illegal database" (cough* registration *cough).
When you sell a gun, just make sure that the purchaser is legal and within your state, and that you go through an FFL. If you suspect that these guns were at any point stolen, then that's an issue.
I could go into more detail, but there are other threads on this. Please use the search feature.Iconoclastic Individual Specimen
