i wish i was making this up
have a ton of candy on the front porch for the kiddies
a group of older kids (4 or so, probably middle school age) just took every last bit of it.
you are saying so what. here is the kicker. as they took it, one of them yelled "Obama!"
give give give. that is what this country expects from the working class. i am sitting inside in disbelief.Montani Semper Liberi

wow...
I dont feel old enough to say this but I do a lot. DAMN KIDS!
The kids at the bottom of my street see mye coming and will ride bikes or scooters out of front of my car, try to do a trick and fall, and then laugh at me because I cant go because they are in the road. Makes me furious.

You set a bowl of candy out on the porch unattended? And some kids took it all? What did you think was gonna happen? The honor system is long dead.

Not where I live. We also left candy out in a bowl unattended. It looked like it was hardly touched.
Last year when we bought our Xmas tree, there was an honor box. I didn't see anyone not paying for their tree. The nursery has done this for years. If there was a problem with people not paying, they would have stopped doing it.

Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

when i say bowl, think of the biggest salad bowl you have ever seen. think of a bowl that could easily fit 4-5 boxes of cereal and milk.
i dont care that they took it all. i bought it for the kids to take it. it just hit a nerve when one yelled "obama" as they took it all. an elderly couple lives next door and i heard them yell "obama" at their doorstep too. i dont even know what they meant by it but they seem to understand his plan for the next four years pretty well.Montani Semper Liberi

Re: i wish i was making this up
I'm not sure your average trick or treating aged child has a firm grasp on wealth redistribution. So you may be looking to deeply into it. On the other hand it's a fairly strange thing to yell. I had this very same thing happen to me last year, minus the Obama comments. I chuckled at it and wondered if I might have done the same thing when I was 9 or 10 had the opportunity presented itself. I know I would have probably at least taken a good sized handful. Kids will be kids.

Re: i wish i was making this up
I am not surprised with what happened to the OP. I have two signs in my yard on a suburban corner lot. One is Romney/Ryan and the other is Tom Smith. Guess which sign was pulled out of the ground and threw in the street two times? I suspect it was the middle school age kids, but, it could have been parents too. Its the sign of the times, I guess.
