Default new way to save money

so i have been buying lead bullets (cheaper than most), but i have been throwing them away when i shoot, so finally i came up with the idea of using a trap, well many hours of torching grinding welding and a few hundred pounds of steel later here is what i came up with.

i still need to make a target backer and a collection bin but it does work.

I work in the auto industry and I collect all of our used lead wheel weights and my friend and I melt them down and turn them into shot for us to use when we reload our game rounds for skeet and sporting clays..... your creation that you made is really kewl... looks like it will work good for you , nice job Sir!!!!!

How thick is the steel and is that the thinnest one should use for a bullet trap?

it is made of 1/4 inch steel. i hope to be able to shoot a 500 s&w mag into it at 10 yards. so far the biggest thing i shot into it is a full house 357 mag and a 12 gauge 00 buck shot. you could make it thiner if you want to shoot smaller rounds 3/16 should be fine for 9mm and 1/8 for rim fire.

Looking at the end plate it looks like a chute that just deflects the bullets downward. Where in a snail trap the bullets go round and round until totally spent. looks can be deceiving I guess.
