Default What's up with needing 3 months proof of resid. to buy gun?

I have bought many many guns and never have I been asked to prove I lived at my residence for three months. WTF is this? Something new or just a FFL giving me a hard time?

I went to buy a pistol yesterday from a local shop. And the man asked if I had proof that where I lived matched my ltcf. Three months of bills or bank statements. I never heard of that. It was a well known shop. I wont mention the name though. What is that about?

Why the hell would he even need to see your LTCF in the first place?

You do need to post the name of the shop. He needs all the negative advertising he can get!!!!

The only thing you are required to provide, is your DL.

What he said, post the name.

I see you live in Freeland, well neighbor I live in hazleton and I frequent all the shops in this area and if some dealer is giving BS info I would like to know so I can tell him how wrong he is, and if he still insist then I need to tell him why he will not get my business anymore.

I showed him my DL then he asked for the three months. I showed him my ltcf and he said that doesn't matter. I sat here and thought about it and with a good conscience can't badmouth a business for one person being incompetent. If I have problems there again then everyone will hear about it. Trust me. And for those of you that live near me don't worry it was over 45 mi. from freeland. Most of our local shops are familiar with me.

Trust me I have been to plenty of shops more than 45mins from us. And I am not asking you to bad mouth the shop, just would like to know if it is one I go to regularly so i can have a nice talk to the owner and make him aware of an honest mistake. And if it is his policy, or he is only doing it to certain people then I would like him to know why he will not see me again. Simple request.

You posted about this shop, it just makes sense to let the gunowners know what the deal is.
