Evansville, Ind. - Police say a man who'd been drinking accidentally fired his .45 caliber handgun at a gun and knife show inside the Evansville National Guard Armory, slightly injuring a 72-year-old man and 16-year-old boy.
It happened Saturday at the Tri-State Gun and Knife Show.
The Evansville Courier & Press says 30-year-old Joshua Wilkinson of Boonville is charged with criminal recklessness.
Police say he removed a round from the gun and applied a flex tie before entering. Show organizer Tom Allman says despite a sign banning loaded weapons, Wilkinson cut off the band and inserted a clip.
Police say Wilkinson had a 0.05 percent blood alcohol level. Indiana sets the level for drunkenness at 0.08 percent.Peace, Prosperity, and Liberty

0.05? Really? I don't think the alcohol would have played a factor in this one...I think this guy is just irresponsible and probably shouldn't be carrying a weapon he can't handle...drunk or sober...

Re: Man accidentally fires at Indiana gun show, hurting two
DUR ... simple solution to the problem:
1. Treat ALL weapons as if they were loaded
2. When handling a weapon ALWAYS keep it pointed in a safe direction
3. Keep you GD booger picker off the GD bang switch!
rinse and repeat, as many times as it takes to get it into your TINY LITTLE MIND

this is why only the police and military should be allowed to have guns and alcohol.

Re: Man accidentally fires at Indiana gun show, hurting two
I wonder if the the negligent discharge would never have happened if the gun show had not required the unnecessary handling (unloading/flex tie application) of the loaded firearm in the first place. The owner would then have no need to reload the firearm at the show or after.

Carrying -1 would have stopped this.
