Re: form 1
Get the forms from a dealer or order them from the ATF here:
Get the packet containing the F1(in duplicate), fingerprint cards(in duplicate)
http://www.atf.gov/dcof/applist.htm Click on "applications at the top of the blue field and the first item in the list is the packet)
You will also need a Form 5330.20 (cert of compliance) Click on "Forms" at the top of the blue field and it's just below half way on the page.
BTW, it's not a "license". It is an application to make and tax paid. NFA items are taxed and registered not licensed. Dealers are licensed
A Form-1 is an "Application to Make and Register a Firearm". Which is needed to manufacture SBR, SBS, suppressor and AOW's_________________________________________

Re: form 1
A form-1 is a not connected to buying NFA weapons. A Form-4 is used to pay the tax and transfer a NFA registered weapon into your name.
Speaking of which, there are no "class 3" weapons.
Class-3 is a type of special occupational tax a dealer pays for the privilege of dealing in (buying/selling) NFA/Title-2 weapons._________________________________________

Re: form 1
For that you will need the Form-1
1) Fill out in duplicate,
2)Either
___a) get fingerprinted and LEO signoff.
___b) fill out as corporation/trust (if you have one) and avoid the FP and LEO signoff
3) Send with $200 check
4) wait for approval and return of stamped form.
5) Have gsg5 engraved to ATF specification with your (registrants) name and city
6) put on stock and enjoy
Also, the stock will make the gsg5 MUCH more useful (IMO)_________________________________________

Re: form 1
ok, here is a couple of questions about the form 1. do i have to do this for any/every firearm i do this to? also does this allow me to buy them too or just make them? because a short barrel shotgun would be a nice addition to my collection.

Re: form 1
You need to do a form 1 for any rifle length rifle you want to use a less than 16" barrel on or any pistol you want to add a stock to. With a form 1, you are the maker of the sbr. If you purchase a sbr from another source, that transfer is done on a form 4.
Again, there is no license. You need to register every rifle that you want to be less than 16" either on a form 1 (make yourself) or a form 4 (buy already sbr'd). Every transfer costs $200 paid the batfe. If you can buy a firearm and are over 21, you will get approval for any stamp collecting you want to do. You will get the approved form 1 / 4 back from the batfe in about 3 months then you can put the short uppers on your registered sbr lower or add a stock to a pistol.
As for shotguns, i'm not positive but i think the legal length is 18.5". If you want to go shorter than that you will need to again use a form 1 or form 4. Some shotguns (without a stock) were made as an AOW (any other weapon) and that transfer fee from a dealer is only a $5 stamp.Last edited by Guns4Fun; December 13th, 2008 at 10:48 AM.
