Probably correct, a lot of outside influence will be exerted on any country trying to actual stabilize the currency with a commodity like gold or a mixture of many different commodities. Can't let that happen can they...fiat money...think it up and print it....worthless..and valueless paper.

Russia has done some strange things in the last couple years....one of them IGNORED by our press and politicians it the flat tax the evil ex-commies have now.

    Article here:http://www.heritage.org/press/commentary/ed032403.cfm

From article...."Russia's economy has expanded by about 10 percent since it adopted a flat tax. That may not be spectacular, but it's better than the United States, and it's very impressive compared to the anemic growth rates we see elsewhere in Europe.......a low tax rate doesn't mean less money for government. Over the last two years, inflation-adjusted income tax revenue in Russia has grown 50 percent. Why? Because people are willing to produce more and pay their taxes when the system if fair and tax rates are low -- exactly what Ronald Reagan predicted when he triggered America's economic boom with lower tax rates 20 years ago. Ironically, the former communists in Moscow now understand supply-side economics, yet liberals in Congress are still relying on the politics of hate-and-envy."

Interesting stuff.....but then again it goes against all the hard work some are doing promoting class warfare here in the good old USA. Funny how the Russians seem to get it.

Ok.. Heritage.org is not a very reliable source of economic information.

    1) Any economic growth that Russia has seen for the past few years was based strictly on it's oil exports..
    2) They're economy is infact shrinking..

Honestly I wouldn't trust Forbes for information on Russia either. Nothing coming out of Russia is not coming out of Russia through the Kremlin. I think right now EVERYTHING from Russia should be suspect.
