    Question Pistol Leash/Lanyards for OC?

As a longtime lurker and new member, wanted to kick off with a new thread about something I've been mulling over in my head the past few months: lanyards. For those unfamiliar, here's a pic.

Since we all are very concerned and proactive about weapon retention while carrying, and especially so while carrying openly, these seem like a fine tool to complement a retention holster. However, I never see them in pics of carry rigs, or discussed.

Does anyone use one, or has tried them? I'd love to get some input on the pros and cons when using a device like this, as well as thoughts on whether or not they would be beneficial in a gun-grab situation.

And of course, if this has been covered already elsewhere, just give me the newbie slap and I'll be on my way.

I'd hate to have to switch hands, or have it get in the way of a magazine change...

Do they get in the way? I mocked one up just out of a bit of paracord and a keychain clip and played with it, and cant seem to make it get in the way of the magazines or manipulations, but maybe the coiled ones act different?

Looking at the tangled phone line hanging next to my computer makes me think no thanks.

I've seen retractable ones before. I'd use a retractable one before ever using that P.O.S.

Or you could just open carry in a drop leg holster....that way you'll have more room for your throwing stars on your belt.

Would the throwing stars be concealed?

Have you come across a retractable one that uses a loop to secure it to the belt? All the ones I've seen use dinky metal clips, and don't amount to much more than a tacticool'd key leash.

How would a drop leg holster or ninja stars help with retention?

About as much as a leash would...

He was being sarcastic, as I believe you were in your response .

However to answer your question. Drop legs so offer retention, but just in case, you can throw the ninja stars at the BG that grabbed your gun and then retrieve your gun from his dead hands.

Personally I don't like having to try to use ninja stars...what if my hands are full? I prefer the boots that have the concealed knife in the sole. 1 stomp, the knife comes out the front and I can kick the guy with a few inches of sharp steel. Way better than ninja stars.

    (also...never heard of a lanyard for CC'ing)
