Is anyone interested in getting together for a caving trip?
I noticed in another thread there are a few cavers on here. I haven't gone caving in far too long and was wondering if anyone was interested in getting a trip trogether. I know a good cave, but don't know if it's still open to the public. If anyone needs lights I have extra headlamps and flashlights as i'm sure alot of us do. I figure we can work out datails later, but....
Who's interested?

Re: Is anyone interested in getting together for a caving trip?
I just reported this post, I don't like it when people make assumptions and try to stereotype me based on my (age, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and opinion on pizza toppings) Hopefully EmptyMag will respond and ban you, lord knows you deserve after the crap you post in the poster thread.

LRT. do you know of a good local cave to go to. We have done alot of caving at bowden cave in WV, but they had a small colapse at one entrance in 2002 and I don't know of the acess points. I'm going to contact our resident "expert tonite and find out, but I'll take ant suggestions of a good cave. Bowden has a stream running through it and at this time if year would be a cold, wet proposition.

Do you mean caving as in The Descent?

No Nikki, as in the that classic of Cinematic Drama, the historicaly correct "Caveman" with Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach.
Since I seem to have called close the Wrath of Thor in my other thread (which P-11 shooter beat me to) I shall refrain from even thinking about using the term Troglodyte or even worse Hodag.
I'm in.

Re: Is anyone interested in getting together for a caving trip?
there are a bunch of them. though avoiding water makes it tougher. i don't know nearly as much about which caves are where and which one's have water as a couple of my buddies....i generally just follow them. (sounds like sgtbob prolly knows this better than i do as well.) but, off the top of my head...other than bowden:
1. sinks of gandy (WV). a fun and relatively easy cave that you can go all the way through and come out at different place than you went in...which is always kinda fun. however, both entrances are on private property and i'm not sure what the status of access is at this point in time.
2. bear cave (westmoreland county) is a fun cave. it's closed until the middle of april, but we could go there after that. this might be a good one for us because there is absolutely no question as the legality of accessing or going into the cave. http://www.karst.org/bear_cave1.htm
3. coon cave (westmoreland county). another one that is clearly legal, though possibly restricted during bat hibernation season.
3. casparis (near connellsville). not sure what the access status is.
i've been in a bunch of other ones in PA and WV also. i can never keep the names straight, though. like i said, i am generally a follower, and not a leader, on these trips, so i just sort of go wherever they take me. i know in a few cases at least, the trip leader had arranged for special permission for us to go into the cave.
i'll check with my buddy sandy for some ideas, though.
