    Default Glock Plug?

I've taken notice recently that there is some lint build up inside open cavity at the bottom of the grip. I was curious about these Glock Plugs that I've read about online. Are there any disadvantages to it? Does anyone know if Cabela's sell them?

Each time I've owned a Glock I bought one. I got mine from gunbroker.com . Not sure what you mean by "disadvantage", it's only a plug that doesn't interfere with anything.

There's a rumor or somesuch floating around on the net that it's a gas escape port or something in the case of it firing out of battery or a double charge - whatever, and that blocking it is bad.

Im not a glock guy - but I have read it in about 5 or 6 separate places now.

    Plug not necessary.
If it was, it would be part of the gun.
I pour sand in mine to see if I can make the gun fail.

If it was a "gas escape port" it would be the LARGEST gas port I've ever seen. I believe that rumor to be bs. I had a Glock 17 with over 2k rounds through with the plug, and I had a Glock 21 with about a thousand through with the plug and never had an issue. I liked the plug as it filled the unsightly gap behind bottom of magazine and it was aesthetically pleasing compared to the hole.

The glock was not designed too have the plug. It is also completely unnecessary. The reason for the space, is to put your thumb in there and pull out the magazine, when necessary. So in reality, it is actually detrimental putting the plug in your Glock. I have been shooting Glocks since the late 80's and never found a reason to use the plug.

The hole at the rear of the grip is NOT a gas escape path, the magazine is intended to vent the gas resulting from a ruptured case. It is not the largest port though, the entire magazine of the AR style rifle is intended to destroy itself while venting gas from a failed case., watch the videos.. Stoner made a big deal of this in his design notes. And this even though the ejection port is almost the same cross-section!

    ALLGLOCK is RIGHT!!!..

It is a tactical advantage.. If the firearm double feeds, you put your thumb in and pull the mag out.. When the gun double feeds the mag is VERY hard to get out without a good grip...

On some of my protection details I use a lanyard on my Glock. This plug would obstruct the hole I use to attach said lanyard. Therefore, I have no use for the plug.

Be safe (and stay attached to your equipment in large crowds).
