Can I ask a Dumb question? Why would anyone buy a well used NM CMP Service grade for $2,500 when you can buy a brand new Fulton Armory Peerless Grade Target Match rifle for $2,399 ?

I would have to say the the CMP rifles are purchased for their collector value more than the value as a competitive shooter. You used to be able to buy a stripped receiver from CMP to build your own rifle on, although it will cost close to $1000 to buy individual parts and a new but not match barrel. That is doing all the work yourself. I bought 3 recievers when they were $125 each and still have one more to build.

yep. i agree there. It's about owning a piece of history, a rifle that may have seen combat.
