    Default Dixie AR build

    Been lurking for a while and wanted to throw up a few pics of the beginning of my build.

    Born and raised in Pittsburgh, graduated from Pitt and had to move to Atlanta for a job... but still consider the 'burgh my home.

    Nothing fancy, RRA lower and single stage parts kits.

    Before...

    After...

    ...and with CTR stock.

    Lower on back order....

    I ordered a 16" heavy upper, floated the barrel.... and am wondering after if I should have gone with 20" barrel for an all purpose rifle. I plan to shoot out to about 150 yds... but you never know.

    150 yrds with a 16" barrel shouldn't be a problem.

    eta: Almost forgot. Welcome to the board.

    Well... it is starting. I bought another lower (Stag) and a parts kit(RRA). Justified that since I have two boys, they would both need one.

    Figure this one I will buy a 20" upper.

    This could go bad quick.

    Well, I am down in Georgia these days, and Bullseye Guns in Lawrenceville (Georgia, not the one next to Bloomfield) had about 8 of them yesterday and about 4 RRA parts kits... so I had an impulse buy.

    Kewl.

    When I seen "Dixie AR build" I was in mind of two possibilities;

    1. An AR being built up from an old Plametto Armory lower, or

    2. One of the "KISS" ARs; as in the spirit of the CSA and making do with the simple but effectives.

    whatever.
