Default How do Kydex holsters get resized?

I have a crossbreed holster which is basically a piece of molded Kydex attached to a piece of leather.

The instructions advise that to make it more form fitting (tighter) you can heat it up. Is this how Kydex holsters are formed? by heating up around a form pistol?

Can I heat a holster up for one kind of pistol so that it fits another kind?

You could reform a holster to fit another gun, but it would take soem skill and probably woudl never be perfect.

I agree. Molding plastic is tricky, may be better off buying one to match your gun, if for no other reason than solid retention.

You might be surprised how easy it is to mold Kydex. I had a belt holster that would not fit a; the gun it was supposed to fit (Glock) or b; the belt size as advertised (1 1/2"). It took about 3 minutes with my wifes blow dryer to fix both problems. Not saying that it would be trivial to create a custom holster from scratch, but re-molding is pretty simple.

I wanna piggyback on this thread, and I do realize it's 2 years old. I'm getting a crossbreed kydex holster in another couple of days. It's used and is made for my particular gun. But the holster is made for my gun with a laserguard attached. My glock doesn't have a laserguard which means there will be extra room.

I heard that you can shrink kydex with a blow dryer to better fit the gun. How exactly do you do this? Do you just put the gun inside the holster and apply heat until the kydex wraps around the gun more? Do you apply water or a wet towel while doing this? I just wanna know easy step-by-step instructions.

Hahahaha damn piggy backers! I suppose a hair dryer will work after a while, but you'd probably have better luck with a $9.00 heat gun from harbor freight.

No! Don't do that. You'll ruin the holster.

What gun are we talking about?

Since my holster would mostly fit except 1 area, I can prob skip most of that guys tools, presses, etc. I'll just pick up a heatgun or borrow one, heat up the small area I need to work with, and then push it into the new position with a piece of foam, towel, or dirty sock from my hamper.

Now I'm wondering if I should just make all my own holsters instead of buying them all. Prob save money I would think.
