problem with a Springfield .45
The gun is used and has fixed sites. For some reason it shoots about 18" low. Does anyone have a suggestion to fix this or know a gunsmith in the Easton area?
ETA: It is a 1911 A1.““Liberty is the right to choose. Freedom is the result of the right choice.””

Mine shot about 2 1/2 feet low at 25 yards to begin with. Now much better after some sight work. (fixed)Honesta Mors Turpi Vita Potior ~ 3%

Re: problem with a Springfield .45
higher rear sight.........dont know about easton, but broadheadsville really isnt that far, bring it up to rich at american sport shooting, im sure he can help you out....that surprises me cuz my 1911 springfield v-10 ultra compact(that now belongs to rich) was a damn tack driver straight out of the box.

Re: problem with a Springfield .45
Before you guys go nuts here. The GI as you know is modeled after the original 1911A1. I have had one of these and had to shoot about 250 rounds through it before it started to get a more reasonable and better as I got more lead down range. You don't have target sights on it and the orginal gun was sighted to hit a person so it takes some getting used to. These are great\fun guns for what they are but you need to wear them in a little and work with it. Enjoy the gun, shoot a little closer to start and move out a little as you wear it in, your results will improve.

Re: problem with a Springfield .45
user error? flinching? anticipating the recoil?
... or that's where it is and you need to change your point of aim. It's called Kentucky Windage. I shoot at 5 o'clock on the target with my snubby and get bullseyes.
... or as stated you need a gunsmith to change your sights. GI models have pinned front sights and it shouldn't take him too long to change it out for you.
You really don't need sights on a 1911 though. I shoot mine from the hip
Good luck.

Re: problem with a Springfield .45
The gun belongs to my buddy's Dad. He is having the problem and just to make sure it wasn't him , I shot it with the same results.
Would there be any chance of it being something other than the sights?““Liberty is the right to choose. Freedom is the result of the right choice.””

Which is why I hate GI models.
You need new sights.
