Default Carrying Mags with body armor

OK, so I'm going to get some body armor. Now, the question I have is this.

I have a very well made tactical harness with mag pouches for my AK mags.

Would I wear something like this over body armor, or, do the mags get mounted directly to the body armor carrier?

Picture of my daughter wearing my tactical harness. It is a good one made by Tactical Tailor. I figure I could always take the mag pouches off of it and put them on the Body Armor Carrier.

I'm going with chest, back and side plates. So, I figure on getting a better, beefier style of plate carrier so it will be a bit more comfortable.

what type of body armour are we talking about here....rifle plates in a carrier or kevlar in a carrier?

If its rifle plates in a carrier, id buy a carrier to attach the mags to the carrier, if its just a kevlar carrier id just wear that on top of it

I had a harness in Iraq and I liked it but I found it slow to take on and off to get my armor on and off so I mounted everything to my vest after that. It's all personal preference.

Depending on how heavy just your body armor with the plates will be, shedding any amount of weight may be the top priority. If you carrier has MOLLE attachment slots, then I'd definitely put the mag pouches on the carrier, otherwise you will be lugging the weight of the harness on top of everything else. I'd buy additional pouches instead of taking them off of your harness so you can still use your harness when you don't need body armor. eBay has good deals on MOLLE pouches.

This is one I'm thinking about. Bit less material. May be a bit cooler.

This one is on the list of ones I like too. Not much difference, but there is less material. It has side pockets already installed.

    Pros.... Cons...

Anybody have one they would like to recommend. Please feel free.

I just might have to hold off and save up and buy this one. Made by Tactical Tailor. You can see the thought that goes into their stuff. I do like how it is laid out and set up. Doesn't look to hot, carries side plates. The inside padding holding the carrier off the body really intrigues me. But man... Their stuff sure isn't cheap.

My other Tactical Tailor Harness would probably fit over this style a bit easier, and I always have the option of mounting mag carriers directly to the carrier itself since it is molle set up.

If you can stomach the weight. Go on the AK files. RIGHT NOW. And jump in on the body armor group buy. You can get front and back plates. Side plates. Etc. Cheap.

    Here's the thread.

If you're gonna do it. Run. Its a few sets away from closing down. Like maybe a handful.

This is the guy that is building them.
    http://thetargetman.com/

They offer them coated, uncoated. (To protect against spalling, fragments) Formed or flat. And with 6x6 or 6x8 side plates.

Prices vary accordingly. And these are steel plates. They will be heavy. But they will also take multiple hits without breaking up with no backer. They have videos up of them being shot as well.

Again, you don't have a lot of time though. So if you want them. Hustle.

There will be a companion group buy coming soon from Beez Combat Systems for plate carriers made specifically for these plates. So if you do jump in. Hang tight on the PC.
