    Default .460 Weatherby

O.K. Most of you will think I am nuts... I Love shooting my .460. I am currently using 500 grainers. I am looking for some loads that are using the 300-350 grainers. Not just the data. I want real world stuff that works for you.

    Thanks !!

My main load with the Hornady 500 gr. round nose is 122.0 Gr. of IMR 4350. It produces right around 2,600 Fps with that bullet. It will turn a 5 gallon pail of water into a cloud of mist instantly! I've read that the same load with the Speer AGS Carbide Tungsten Core Solid will penetrate 60", (5 feet) of pine. Bill T.

If you have fun shooting the .460 for recreation, I think you should go for it. Last summer a truck driver delivered a load of concrete blocks to one of my jobs. He had these big healed and partly healed scars on his arms that were self inflicted with a hot skinning knife - something about inner torment. True story.

Billt .. Thanks for that info!! My son and I were shooting 5 & 1 gallon pails the other day with it. The 1 gallon cans go from water to vapor!! I should post the video... I will try the Speers.. and keep you posted. Have you tried any 300-400 grainers??

Autorim... I also hang from the ceiling from chains and hooks..

Not really.. You need to shoot one. The power is what intrigues me the most. It has to be witnessed first hand. This gun is ported and I use a Past recoil sheild.

The Weatherby really is a hell of a rifle. I love to shoot my Ruger No. 1 in 45-70. A near max load in that light rifle will just kick like a mule. I also use the Past shield.

Yes, the way I learned about the Past shield was to stoke up a new Browning high wall 45-70 to 2160 fps...(chrono'ed) Talk about a kicker!!
