PITTSBURGH (Map, News) - The National Rifle Association will hold its annual convention in Pittsburgh in 2011.
It's the second time the NRA has selected Pittsburgh for its annual convention. Vice President Dick Cheney was the keynote speaker at its 2004 convention.
The event will take place April 28-May 1 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. It's expected to attract about 61,000 people, ranking it among the city's largest conventions.
VisitPittsburgh president Joseph McGrath says the NRA's second visit is a testament to the service provided by the city's hospitality community.

Hope the last two members have a good time and enjoy President H. R. Clinton's keynote address thanking them for their staunch support in helping make this country safer for the children

Re: Pittsburgh to host 2011 NRA convention
how do they work their conventions, do you have to presign up for things or is it something like a boat show where you go, pay an entry fee and just have tons of different setups and speakers and such?

Re: Pittsburgh to host 2011 NRA convention
Hmmm... I don't recall paying to enter.
Then again, I don't remember what I ate for dinner yesterday either.
I do know that you have to be an NRA member.
If you are not, there are plenty of tables with people to sign you up on the spot.
As for the speakers and such, I wasn't interested... I was there to look at the toys.
It's like the mother of all gun shows. Except instead of asking Bubba if he has the new (fill in the blank) in stock, you walk to the vendor display of your choice, and fondle every motherloving firearm they manufacture.
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: Pittsburgh to host 2011 NRA convention
You dont pay. You show your NRA card and walk in.
Pittsburgh is very lucky to have this convention after hosting the the 2004 event. I was there, and it's well worth the trip for even you easties.
What goes on? Well...auctions, dinners and speakers. But for the most of you out there, the big thing is the companies that set up.
ANYONE that is ANYONE in the shooting field will be there. Every major gun maker that you can think of will be there showing off their guns and products.
I'll be there.
We need to come up with special "PAFOA/NRA Convention" t-shirts by then. A color that will be easy to spot so we can all meet up out there....even if we just bump into each other at the exibits.
