Sorry, no experience but a lot of interest. Since it is "production-oriented" I wonder if Wilson is actually building them.

I wouldn't mind trying one myself. I have a Wilson Protector and after 3 years I can say their customer support is outstanding!

Any time a company suggests you keep it under 500 rounds without cleaning, makes me a little worried... It kind of looks like a Glock/XD wanna be...

I sent them an E-mail today asking where it is made.

I would hope that they would not put their name on a POS.

Made in South Africa. Uses an HK P7-type gas-delayed blowback action.

Mark I pistols (the Wilson is a Mark II) were imported by Heritage Arms as the Stealth. Some were made by Tangfolio as the T-25.

Mark II pistols are made by Truvelo Armory.

The Heritage pistols sold for about $300, the Wilson ADP retail price is more than double that. Impact Guns has them listed at $622.99. It's an improved version with night sights, but damn, that's a big jump in price!

Modern Firearms ADP page - Where I got most of this info.

I agree. I went back to their website last night and saw that little tidbit of information. As much as I like my Wilson 1911 I don't think it would make sense for me to buy an ADP.

ETA: Sorry - Did not read previous posts... Used to be Heritage Stealth... That's the one... Thanks!

My understanding of it is that it is a lousy/cheaply-made, yet overpriced attempt at the gas-delay concept. I believe it had previously been manufactured and/or distributed by some other company, under a different model name. It's a shame, because one of my only complaints about the P7's for CCW is their weight (all-steel). This pistol, if executed better, could, IMO, have been a decent carry piece, and the weight almost on par w/ Glock, etc. Instead, it is just plain fugly and probably not all that robust. I saw a one about a year back, and the internals seemed to be thin, crappy stampings.

In all fairness, though, even the P7's (which are a very high-quality pistol, IMO) need to be kept clean at about the same interval (about every 250-500 rounds) in order to operate smoothly. It's just the nature of the gas-delay system. Crap gets shaved off the jacket of the slug, fouling blown through the gas port during firing, and caked onto the piston rings and the walls of the gas cylinder, resulting in ratchety operation after several hundred rounds (or fewer, if using dirty ammo).

I would pass on this "Wilson" and wait for the next manufacturer's attempt at the gas-retarded 9mm blowback pistol (in like 25 years... if ever...lol)

    Regards,

    -Bones
