    Default Firearms course Philadelphia

I'm located in Center City. I'm new to firearms but am interested in at least taking some courses in it. Anybody know what the best place is in or around Center City to do something like that? I've heard about both the Firing Line and SPAG. Do they do any classes or lessons there? Thanks!

Pretty much all ranges will give you the basic intro class. Other ranges, like Classic Pistol, offer 1 day intro-to-CCW type classes too.

Here are some useful area links:

This place has a sequence of 3 or 4 classes:

To be honest, you're probably better off spending an hour with a member of these forums than taking a lesson at a local range. Ive had occassion to sit through a couple basic pistol courses and came away thoroughly unimpressed. They seem to harp on a lot of things that just aren't important, and leave out quite a few key tips for new shooters. You may even come out with poor habits.

Absent of that, pick up the book "Surgical Speed Shooting" off Amazon by Andy Sanford. That $12 book will put you on the road to better shooting faster than any $100 course locally. The technique Sanford teaches is the technique of people who really, really know what they're doing. Ive seen someone getting private lessons at a local ranger where the instructor was putting him into some kind of old Weaver stance. No good...
