Re: Remington buying up everything?
Looks like Cerberus (details) is buying these businesses up. Might have military contracts in mind, especially with Remington & Bushmaster.
From Wiki:
Firearms - Acquired Bushmaster Firearms, Inc., from Windham, Maine native Dick **** for an undisclosed sum in April 2006, and purchased Remington Arms in April 2007. Under Cerberus direction, Bushmaster Firearms acquired Cobb Manufacturing, a well-respected manufacturer of large-caliber tactical rifles in August 2007. Cerberus also announced the acquisition of DPMS Panther Arms in December 2007Gloria: "65 percent of the people murdered in the last 10 years were killed by hand guns"
Archie Bunker: "would it make you feel better, little girl, if they was pushed outta windows?"

Re: Remington buying up everything?
Yes, I think they're definitely after military contracts. I read a little while back that they recently landed a $40 million contract for Chrysler (more specifically, the Jeep division). With a bunch of ex-GE execs on the board, I think Cerberus is trying to place itself as the next GE...they want their hands into everything they can get them into.Last edited by Ramtuff; December 29th, 2007 at 03:41 PM.

I cant say for sure that its a good thing or bad... But I'm grateful that Marlin is still American owned. I'm a big fan of Marlin, LC Smith and H&R/NEF firearms.

Lets just wait and see, and then after the bean counters are done most of you favorite items that dont sell will be gone. anytime a big holdings company such as this starts to buy up companies it almost always a bad thing.
