New sig mcx 5.56 with less than 30rounds through it. Side folding skeleton style stock and all boxes and paperwork are still with it. Just trying to get some estimates before I take it to the store to sell.

Try selling it here first in the classifieds

To a gun shop at least 25-30% less then you paid and that’s if you’re lucky.

I would not sell it to a gun shop, nor would I sell it there on consignment. You're leaving money on the table (the dealer's table) and you can do better here or gun broker. Here would be my first choice, no fees. All money goes to you. That's a nice rifle, it should sell quickly if priced right.

    Good Luck!

PS As far as what it's worth, I'd say 85-90% of what you paid for it, unless you got it for a great deal. But if you bought it new in box from a LGS, then my 85-90% stands. Hope that helps!

Good call. I pull completed auctions all the time to check fluctuations on the surplus market.

It’s worth just under the lowest price when on sale. Regardless of the low round count (which can never be validated) it is a used rifle. Any aftermarket add ons are worth 25-50% of their cost unless they are high grade options, and even then they are also used.

For a comparison Grice’s has them listed in their Labor Day sale flyer for $1,679.99.

Thanks guys. Yeah I checked gun broker and I think 1400$ is a fair price for it and will post it on here as well.

    Thanks,
    Joe

You are doing the right thing advertising it here first. A gun shop typically will only give you 40%-60% of what the gun is worth. They might give you 70%-75% of its value if you are buying another gun from them. They will value it by using the Blue Book of Gun Values, The Gun Traders Guide (or another publication like those) and/or what they have actually sold for on Gunbroker (NOT what a seller is asking in the initial auction). You will always be money ahead doing a private sale or even selling at an auction site.

With on 30 rounds through it, with the box and all papers, it would probably be considered in 98% condition (by the BBGV.) The value that condition at $1425 so your $1400 selling price is fair. If it is scuffed up any then the condition would probably drop to 95% and a $1200 value.

Unfortunately you have to factor in a down turned market for almost all things guns right now. Major manufacturers are having financial issues right now and it’s definitely a buyers market for all new production MSR’s and pistols.
